The solution to this costly problem is to install sacrificial anodes. A magnesium sacrificial anode produces an electrical current which prevents corrosion cells from developing in and around the unprotected areas. Sacrificial anodes will increase the service life of the tank lining. They are typically replaced every 1-3 years
